1. Check the audio source in-app

There are times when the audio source is changed or left empty due to some missing files or updates in ShareX or some other device plugged in and out of the system. Hence, you can check for the audio source in-app and make sure the apt one is selected.

  1. Download ShareX and install it.
  2. Then, Open “Task settings” 
  3. Look for “Screen Recorder” and open it
  4. Click on “Screen recording options
  5. Then, look for “Audio Source” 
  6. So, if a source is already selected then just make sure it is your device and if none of the sources is selected then click on “Install recorder devices
  7. Now, install the source and again go on to “audio source” and make sure the accurate one is selected
  8. And still, you are unable to select any audio source then just Download the additional file at the top 
  9. Once it is downloaded just re-launch ShareX and done

If this does not fix the issues, you will have to go through some of the system settings to resolve the mic input issues.

2. Enable Microphone Driver

There are also times when users face issues because of driver error or because the driver is somehow disabled by the system or the user by mistake. So, all you have to do is enable the microphone driver from the system’s audio input options.

  2. Search for “Device manager” or open directly from the control panel
  3. Open Device manager
  4. Look for “Audio inputs and outputs
  5. Expand by clicking on it
  6. Look for “Microphone
  7. Right-click on it

  9. After it is done
  10. Look for “Action” at the top side
  11. Then click on “Scan for hardware changes

  3. Click on the “Sound” option and go on to “Recording Devices
  4. Then, double click on the microphone device which is visible
  5. And then just adjust the level to increase or decrease the volume i.e. being recording in
  6. Also, make sure that it is in an “un-mute” state.

Make sure to check the keyboard and disable the mute button for the microphone, if you have pressed it by mistake.

3. Go through Windows Sound Input

There are times when the input device for a specific action is altered because of multiple device usage which results in further changes or probable errors in the input settings which is kind of rare too. Anyways following are the steps to change the input settings.

  2. Open settings then go on to the “System” option
  3. Then open the “Sound” option
  4. Look for “Input” and now make sure that “Microphone (Realtek) Audio” input is selected

  3. Then make sure the “Apps Access to Microphone” is enabled 
  4. Then have a look below, the number of apps that can access the mic is listed and make sure ShareX is also mentioned and the access should be turned on for that, if not then turn it on.

4. Update Audio Drivers 

At times when the drivers are not updated in the system, many functions tend to be dysfunctional a bit and for which you need and should check the drivers over time. Hence, last but not least updating the drivers manually can solve the issue.

  3. Look for “Audio inputs and outputs
  4. Expand by clicking on it
  5. Look for “Microphone
  6. Right-click on it

  8. First, click on “Search automatically for the updated driver software
  9. Then again go on to update the driver software
  10. Click on “Browse my computer for driver software
  11. Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers
  12. Now, select a driver from the list mentioned and then just proceed and update the driver
  13. Look for “Action” at the top side
  14. Then click on “Scan for hardware changes

  16. Now just restart the system

  2. Then, Run it.
  3. Now click on the “Scan” button

  5. Once the scanning is done, in the next window there will be a list that shows the number of drivers to be or has been updated.
  6. Now select the particular driver and update the driver
