6 Ways To Fix SD Card Showing Wrong Size Easily

Fix SD Card Showing Wrong Size

You must make sure the memory device you are purchasing is of good quality, and most importantly it has to be a genuine product. So, I have 6 ways to fix SD Card Showing Wrong Size which are given below.

1. Scan SD Card Or Pendrive with Antivirus

There are times when you download stuff or transfer files from other systems to your memory cards or pen-drive then the virus comes to the memory card. There is a possibility that the viruses could be consuming the space or eventually might corrupt the memory device on a temporary basis.

Bitdefender-Free-Antivirus

All you have to do is scan the external memory device either from the Windows Defender or any anti-virus software you have in your system. I would recommend Bitdefender to scan the device because it is free of cost and the free version of this software does the job pretty decently.

2. Clean Pendrive using CMD

To clean the respective memory card or pen-drive from the system CMD, go through the steps mentioned below.

clean partition

Steps:

  1. Click on windows search bar
  2. Search for “Command Prompt or CMD”
  3. Right click on it and Run it as administrator
  4. Type “diskpart” and enter
  5. After entering DISKPART type “list disk” and enter
  6. Then type “select disk (disk number) ” and enter
  7. Now type “clean” and  enter
  8. Now type “create partition primary” and  enter
  9. To format type “format fs=ntfs” and enter
  10. And you are done

Head on to the next method if this one doesn’t work for you.

3. Delete SD Card Partition

For deleting the SD card partition from the system and creating a new one again in the system, go through the steps mentioned below thoroughly.

Creating partition

Steps:

  6. Then type “select disk (disk number) ” and enter
  7. Now type “list partition” and  enter
  8. Then “select partition 1” and enter
  9. To delete type “delete partition” and enter
  10. Now type “create partition primary” and  enter
  11. Then type “active” and enter to activate the partition

After you are done with the CMD commands head on to the disk management part to allocate the external memory device:

  1. Click on the windows search bar
  2. Search & Open for “disk management”
  3. Right-click on the particular disk i.e. the damaged one
  4. Select “New Simple Volume”
  5. Click on “Next” until you see the drive letter selection window
  6. Also, don’t change the size of the disk, leave it as it is
  7. Then select the drive letter
  8. Name the disk if you want to
  9. And you are done.

So, most probably this should fix the size issue of the external memory device. Just plug the external device out and plug it in again. If this method didn’t fix the issue then head on to the next one.
